Who we are
ኤላም የትምህርት ማዕከል (the Elam learning center) is a ministry of መካነ ራማ ቅዱስ ገብርኤል ቤተ ክርስቲያን (Mekane Rama St. Gabriel Church), a nonprofit based in Virginia, USA. This policy covers the learning platform at learn.elamaba.org — the practice, reading, class and teacher-authoring pages — not the church's public site at elamaba.org, which is separate.
What we collect
Practicing without an account. Nothing personal. Your progress and spaced-review schedule are saved only in your own browser. We do log anonymous usage — see "Usage events" below — so we can see which lessons are used and where people get stuck, but nothing in that record can be tied back to you.
If you create an account. The email or Google account you sign in with, your display name, your role (student, teacher, reviewer, etc.), and which church, class or organization you belong to.
Usage events. One record per practice session or reading — which course and unit, whether it was completed, and your score — never a log of each individual answer you clicked. If you're signed in, this is linked to your account so your own teacher can see your progress; if you're not, it carries no cookie, device ID or advertising ID, so it cannot be linked across visits or back to you.
Content you author. If you're a teacher or reviewer, the readings, questions and review decisions you create, attributed to your account.
Voice recordings. Not part of the platform yet. If we add recorded answers in the future, we'll update this notice before any recording is collected, and it will require a parent, guardian or teacher's involvement for any learner under 18, the same as described below.
What we don't do
- No advertising identifiers, and no third-party ad trackers.
- No public profiles and no direct messaging between users.
- No selling or renting your information to anyone.
- We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregate page-view counts. It's cookieless and doesn't identify you individually.
- Your device's Do Not Track setting is honored for usage events.
Children
This platform is used by learners of every age, including children, as part of church- and school-guided study — it is never a children-only product, and it is never advertising-supported. For any learner under 13, an account is created by, or with the direct involvement of, a parent, guardian or teacher; a child does not sign up alone. We collect the minimum needed to run practice and classes, and — as above — there are no ads, no public profiles and no direct messaging for anyone, which matters most here. A parent or guardian who wants to review, correct, or delete a child's account information can reach us at the contact below.
How long we keep it
Progress saved only on your device stays there until you clear it yourself. For usage events tied to no account, we keep them no longer than 90 days. For usage events tied to an account, no longer than 13 months. Account and profile data is kept while your account is active; contact us to have it deleted.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers to run the platform, under terms that limit them to that purpose:
- Supabase — our database and sign-in provider.
- Vercel — hosting and the page-view analytics above.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
Your choices
You can practice without ever creating an account. You can turn off usage events entirely with the "Share anonymous usage" switch under Settings → Privacy in the app. To see, export or delete the data tied to your account — or a child's account — email us at the address below.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we'll update the date at the top of this page and note the change on the site for anything material.
